I "borrowed" this idea from Pinterest, and loved it! I was tired of our very boring garage door, but I didn't know what to do, then I got on Pinterest, and Domestically Speaking had this neat idea! So, after cleaning the doors with soap and water, and letting them dry, I got to work on staining them. I used Mini Wax gel stain for Wood, Veneer, Fiberglass and More in Aged Oak. I used an old rag which is more my style. I tried a sponge brush, but it fell apart. Domestically Speaking used a cheap synthetic brush and maybe I should have tried that, but I used what I had. I have a few imperfections which I would like not to have had, but it is a DIY project, not a professional job! I would advise being very careful around the handles because once it goes on, you can't get it off. I like the lighter color, but a second coat might have smoothed out some imperfections. Also, do a small area at a time because it does dry very fast! Plan on around three hours to do this project, and try and stain it when it is cooler or at least in the shade. P.S. Try not to go over any already stained areas as it picks up more stain.
