Good morning, sweet world!
Today, I want to show you how to make these simple banners. They are fairly expensive in the stores, but really easy to make! Plus, they use up scrap fabrics! I made a triangle pattern out of poster board, and cut out different fabrics. They can be pinks for a girl's room, bright colors for birthday parties, or Christmas fabrics for the holiday! Anyway, I also cut out white triangles to sew on the back of each triangle, so they are thicker. If I used upholstery fabric, I wouldn't need backing, but I was using up fabric I already had! So, after cutting out the colored piece and the white piece, I sewed them together. I am using up thread from my grandmother, great grandmother, etc., so the top thread will match the fabric, but I like white for the bottom thread to match the backing fabric. Then, I use pinking shears around the edges. After I have all the triangles sewn for however long I want it, I attach each triangle inside of seam tape leaving around a foot on each side. I have also used flat lace for a sweeter look!
Then I continue to add the triangles fairly close together.
I usually use around seven to nine triangles. And you are finished! Fun project to teach children to sew!! My mom taught me to sew as a child, and I love it! I did learn though that if you are expecting perfection, you will never enjoy it. Learn to live with imperfections, and your skills get better and better! Plus, it is so much more fun! Have a wonderful day!!
