My husband and I just got back from visiting our son and daughter-in-law in Maui where they live. It is a glorious place with beauty all around us! We went on to Kauai after Maui, and had new experiences!
This is a waterfall we almost missed! It is a beautiful place with beautiful people! But all that beauty comes with a high price tag. The people dream of having their own homes. Most seem to live in rentals because unless they work two jobs, they cannot afford to buy, or even be approved for a loan. So, about the time we think they have it made living in Utopia, realize that all things are not as they seem.
We need to learn to appreciate what we have. We always seem to want what others have. Sometimes, we work hard so that we drive the right car, live in the right house, or wear the right outfit. We need to slow down and learn to love what we have! Utopia comes at a price. We lose what is important to us. We lose friends and family because we are working crazy hours, pushing hard for the next raise, position, or standing in the community. Don't get me wrong, I am not encouraging laziness! But, I am encouraging you to find your happy place. Get away from everything for a little while, spend some time in prayer, and figure out what is important to you and to God. Don't let life pass you by because you are spending every second you can at work. Learn to look out the window and be thankful for where you live, what you do have, and the love of family and friends.
So, work hard, but play hard! And love what you have!!
