I am in gorgeous Maui! My son and daughter-in-law moved here years ago after he got out of the military! I am so proud of what they accomplished by jumping into life. Most of us are too afraid to take that leap of faith. Times were tough, but they have proved themselves, and are living a dream. I secretly...okay, maybe not so secretly, hope they move back to the mainland where we can see them more often, but that is another story!
Most of us are always looking to the future, but we fail to thrive in the moment! I learned a lot from them, when they sold everything, and jumped in with both feet! I learned that sometimes our stuff holds us back. That the things were thought were important, are really not, they are just things!
After they sold off their things, I started purging. Not to move to some distant place, but to streamline our things, and to get to those things that make us happy. Sometimes our things weigh us down. We look around and there is stuff everywhere.
I now have empty cabinets and empty drawers. I still have lots of pretties around me because I like that homely feeling, but I don't have stored items for the just in case I change my mind.
This purging was good for me physically and mentally. If and when we move, I am ready because we don't know what life holds, and I am here for the ride wherever God takes us. Also, my house is easy to keep clean. I do a little maintenance everyday, so I am ready for visitors at any given moment.
So, think about your stuff. Does it bring you happiness, or does it weigh you down? It takes time to purge, but it is worth every second! Trust me, I know! Interesting how my children are teaching me now! Life comes full circle! Have an adventurous day, but clean out one drawer! Just a little nudging on my part!
Hi, I am Sharon Farmer. I am married, have a great son and sweet daughter-in-law, my parents moved down here years ago, so we share a house (Mom passed away almost two years ago now), and I am ready for a change in my life....hence the blog!
