My backdoor had gotten grimy, and I tried cleaning it, but it wouldn't come off! I had leftover paint from my house trim, so away I went! First, I sanded the door to get off any outside gunk.
I realized that the knobs were rusted, so I taped up the door using blue painter's tape around the sides for overspray. Then, I used Rustoleum's Metallic spray paint. Notice, I also covered up the keyholes with the tape.
Then, I let the spray paint dry for a few minutes before I removed the tape. Then, I painted away. I did two coats, letting the first coat dry for an hour or so. It was so quick and easy that I don't know why I put it off!
It isn't perfect! I got a little of the creamy paint on the knobs, but I am not one to remove knobs, etc. to do a job...or things would never get done! Could have let the spray paint dry longer and tape around the knobs to have smooth lines, but oh well! Job well done, and fast!
