This blog has several parts, so please bear with me, as there are important tidbits to share.
I went to Salvation Army to donate some of our stuff. I keep a bag going all the time with a spiral near it to write down everything I donate. Then, when tax time comes around, I print off the donation value list from Goodwill or Salvation Army, and spend a little time giving values to each item I donated. It sounds like a pain, but we get thousands off our taxes every year because of this!!
So, that was tidbit #1!
When, I was there donating my stuff, this old sewing machine stool was sitting there, and I just started telling the employee about the item, and that I have one similar that was my grandmother's stool. She said they couldn't sell it because of one little spot where the veneer was missing, so she gave it to me! Doesn't hurt to be nice to people anyway, right?!
So, I took it home, painted it a white paint, and recovered the top! Easy!! If you like these kinds of projects, invest in a staple gun! Worth every penny!!! That is tidbit #2!
So, tidbit #3 is...never under-estimate the value of being kind! We can chose to be grumpy and look at the bad in people, or we can be kind, treat others with the respect we would want, and come out a winner in life! I choose kindness! Haven't you ever been in a really bad mood, then someone said a kind word, and your mood was lifted?! Let's pass on kindness today to your spouse, your kids, your neighbors, or complete strangers! You may be the person that alters their life!
Hi, I am Sharon Farmer. I am married, have a great son and sweet daughter-in-law, my parents moved down here years ago, so we share a house (Mom passed away almost two years ago now), and I am ready for a change in my life....hence the blog!
